YouTube Premium has now finally rolled out the option which lets its users download 1080p videos for offline watching.
YouTube Premium is the paid service by Google for its video-sharing subsidiary, YouTube. Although the paid service previously allowed users to download videos for offline viewing, it had one strange limitation; the users couldn’t download videos in quality that was better than 720p. Now, seemingly Google has lifted this limitation from the video-sharing website. The users who have the premium access to the site would be able to download videos in 1080p.
The news first surfaced on a forum hosted at Reddit where a few users shared that the feature was being rolled out for select users. The popular news media outlet, The Verge, later turned to YouTube for comment. The tech giant, upon the request of comment, then confirmed that the feature was being rolled out globally starting with select markets. The feature was being made available to the “most Premium markets” first and the other markets would also soon see the feature.
As far as the other additional options as provided by the premium YouTube service are concerned, the YouTube Premium users get access to YouTube Music Premium content and all of the content currently hosted on the platform can be viewed completely advertisement-free. The option was being made available to the iOS users as well to the Android users through the dedicated YouTube applications for the two platforms.
Although the YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscriptions aren’t available in the Pakistani market, the users in Pakistan can enjoy offline video downloads as a free perk from the company. A complete list of countries where these premium options are available can be accessed from here.
