YouTube is now bringing a tool that will help creators to prevent their content from stealing.
On 11th July YouTube announced a Copyright Match tool in a blogpost, which is designed to find re-uploads of your content on other channels. When you upload a video, the tool will scan and identify if the content is already present on the platform or similar to the existing content. But it will only identify full videos, not short clips.
YouTube is rolling out this tool next week with more than 100k subscribers. It will be available to more creators in next coming months. The creators who will use the tool will be notified if a very similar type of content upload on the platform. When there is a match, the creators will decide what to do next. They can either contact the person, asks YouTube to remove the video or do nothing.

If you upload the video first, you will be considered the original creator by the tool, so there is the possibility that someone else copies the video that is already on Vimeo or Facebook and uploads it to YouTube before you.
YouTube already has a similar tool called Content ID, which helps copyright owners find people using their content without their permission. Content ID is more limited in its availability, and unlike this new tool, it also allows content owners to monetize unauthorized uses of their work.
YouTube is taking great initiatives to keep its platform reliably and free from scam and fake news. Just a few days ago, YouTube announced a $25 million commitment to fighting fake news on its platform. This move is a part of the $300 million Google News Initiative launched in March 2018.
