The video database YouTube has announced that it will be bringing out live mobile broadcasting for its users soon. The announcement is being made on the occasion of on-going VidCon. The social media giants Twitter and Facebook have already jumped into live mobile video broadcasting arena by launching Periscope and Facebook Live.
Google, the parent company of YouTube, made this announcement through a blog post in which it regarded this as ‘a new chapter in YouTube’s live stream’ and something ‘more reliable than anything else out there’. This feature is being rolled out today on the occasion of VidCon for some users and it would soon be available for the rest.
YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki while delivering a keynote at VidCon said,
“While TV networks are losing audiences, we’re growing in every region and across every screen.”
The feature’s integration will be made to the YouTube’s mobile application and the users will be able to download the updated version of the YouTube’s mobile application. The mobile live streaming will also have all the features of regular videos as well.
Although YouTube has been offering live streaming since 2011, this is going to be its first dive into the pool of mobile streaming. The things have gone greatly mobile since then and this utility is sure to help people who would like to broadcast on the go. This is a step taken quite late as Facebook Live has already gathered a lot of following.
VidCon is a multi-genre online video conference which is being held annually in Southern California since 2010. The conference gathers thousands of online video viewers, creators, and industry representatives from worldwide.
