Apple, a major giant in the world of technology, was made fun of for doing something absurd, and now, one year later, other phone companies have finally followed in by doing the same.
Apple Inc. was the first company to stop including chargers in its iPhone boxes, and then the strong rival Samsung began doing the same thing shortly after. Now it’s time for Xiaomi to follow suit, even for the company’s more affordable Redmi phones.
The new Redmi Note 11 SE was essentially a rebranded version of the previous model, the Redmi Note 10S, and was introduced yesterday in India by Xiaomi. The introduction mostly focused on the characteristics and specs of the phone. However, Xiaomi has confirmed on its website that the phone would not come with a charger in the box when it is purchased.
Since the release of the Mi 11 late last year, Xiaomi has been sending phones without a charger; however, you still have the option to purchase a package that includes a charger. This is the first Redmi phone that does not have a changeable brick in the packaging when it is sent.
The image shows that the packaging will have a USB C cable, a SIM ejection tool, a protective case, a quick start guide, and a warranty card, but it will not contain a charger.
The fact that Xiaomi phones generally come with fast chargers, which are more costly than conventional chargers, makes this piece of information very upsetting for a large number of consumers. Not to mention that authentic chargers are quite pricey and might be difficult to locate among the dozens of clones available. Within its ecosystem, Xiaomi also offers a selection of chargers that use gallium nitride (also known as GaN).
It is unclear if we will have the choice to purchase a box with or without a charger. This information is currently unavailable. Along the same lines as Samsung’s Galaxy A series, this also indicates that Redmi smartphones will not come included with their respective chargers in the future.
Initially, Samsung removed chargers from its flagship phones’ packaging; now, the company’s most recent Galaxy A series phones also do not come with a charger.
