Chinese electronics company Xiaomi has created a smart new rice-cooker that can be controlled wirelessly through an app in your smartphone.
The fifth largest smartphone manufacturer in the world, Xiaomi is also a producer of electronic devices like water purifiers, air purifiers, blood pressure monitor, etc. Now, the company has gone ahead and unveiled a sleeky minimalistic-looking rice-cooker that is the perfect companion for a smart-home, called the “Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker”.
On first look, it looks just like an ordinary, white, elegantly-designed box but what makes the Mi really stand out is the fact that it features Wi-Fi, allowing it to connect directly with your smartphone. The user can then control exactly how they want to cook their rice. The cooker is also capable of recognizing 200 brands of rice and adjust its heating methodology to best suit the type of rice.
“Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker employs a magnetic relief valve to precisely control the pressure inside the rice cooker to 1.2 times the atmospheric pressure, corresponding to an ideal boiling point of water at 105 degree Celsius, which results in more flavourful rice,” says a statement from Xiaomi.
It also comes with a magnetic relief valve to regulate the pressure while the lining itself is made out of grey cast iron. To prevent the rice from sticking to the bottom, it is coated with PFA powder. The Mi Induction Heating Pressure Rice Cooker, while marketed and sold by Xiaomi, is manufactured by a partner company “Chun Mi” and goes on sale for around $150 on the 6th of April.
