After the success of the SU7 sedan, Xiaomi is planning to debut its second electric car, the YU7 SUV, in the summer of 2025. In the electric SUV segment, YU7 hopes to go up against vehicles like Tesla’s Model Y. Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, has stated that the car will be officially released in June or July 2025 after detailed testing to guarantee excellent quality.
The YU7 has dimensions of 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, 1,600 mm in height, and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm, according to regulatory filings from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). It has a maximum speed of 253 kilometers per hour and a weight of 2,405 kilograms. The SUV’s two electric motors can produce a combined 295 hp in front and 386 hp at the rear.
As part of its ambitious electric vehicle expansion, Xiaomi EV will build the YU7 at its factory in Yizhuang, Beijing. Having passed a major regulatory test, it is now being considered for final clearances after being added to the MIIT catalog.
Xiaomi wants to improve its standing in the electric vehicle business with the YU7, which will allow it to meet the increasing demand for environmentally friendly transportation options.
