Xiaomi has emerged as a major player in the smartphone industry in the previous few years. The Chinese brand has managed to establish itself in the market successfully, gaining a significant percentage of the global market share of smartphones. Their models are mostly low/mid-range phones with surprising features (i.e. features that are not available from any other brand in the selected price range).
Their latest model is the Redmi Pro 6, which comes 5 days after Xiaomi revealed the Redmi 6 and 6A. The Pro 6 is Xiaomi’s first phone with a notch. The notch houses the front camera of the phone which is used for an AI-face unlock among a host of other things. The Pro 6 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 running on an octa-core setup, with each core clocking in at 2.0 GHz. Users get a choice in memory capacity thanks to two trims that are being released; one with 3 GB RAM while the other with 4 GB RAM.
The display is an IPS LCD touchscreen measuring 5.84”. The screen runs at a resolution of 720×1520 pixels with an aspect ratio of 19:9. The phone measures 149.33×71.68×8.75mm and weighs 178g. The phone is powered by a huge 4000mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. Coming to the camera, there is a dual-lens camera setup on the back, with one camera having a resolution of 12 MP with the other having a resolution of 5 MP. Additionally, the front camera has a front camera of 8 MP and is capable of shooting videos having a resolution of up to 1080p. The fingerprint sensor has been placed on the back of the phone.
The phone comes with dual-sim support and is available in the following colors: Stone Black, Sand Gold, Cherry Blossom Powder, Bali Blue, and Flame Red. As of now, the phone has been launched in China exclusively, wherein the base model is priced at CNY 999 (3 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM) while the relatively expensive trims are priced at CNY 1199 (4 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM) and CNY 1299 (4GB RAM, 64 GB ROM) respectively. This comes down to roughly Rs.15,000 for the base model, Rs. 20,000 for the trim with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB storage and Rs.23,000 for the version having 4 GB RAM paired with 64 GB of storage.
