Xiaomi records ground-breaking 27.6M smartphones shipments in Q3 2017

The world’s number five smartphones brand in terms of production and shipments, Xiaomi has shown a ground-breaking record in the third quarter of the year 2017. The Chinese smartphones manufacturer has announced 27.6 million smartphones shipments in Q3 2017. Samsung still on the top with 83.3 million smartphones shipments during the same period of time.

Xiaomi after being recognized as one of the top smartphones vendors in China is expanding its reach in emerging markets like India, where it sold over 1 million units of its midrange smartphone in just 2 days, a couple of months ago. On the other hand, Huawei is also moving at rapid pace with smartphones shipments of 39.1 million in Q3 2017, giving a tough time to its rival Apple which has 46.7 smartphones shipments in Q3 2017.

Xiaomi revealed these stats, by concluding the reports from IDC in an event in China, where the launch of Xiaomi Redmi 5 and 5 plus was held. Surprisingly, Oppo another premier Chinese smartphone manufacturer has become the main contestant in terms of smartphones shipments as it records 30.7 million ground-breaking shipments in the same period of time.

Xiaomi has achieved a huge 102.6% increase over Q3 2016. The market share also doubled from 3.7% to 7.4%, which resulted in pushing Vivo out from the list of Top 5 contestants.

Xiaomi’s sale has increased during the past months mainly due to its mid-range and budget-friendly smartphones which are becoming popular in emerging markets for their low price. This is the reason that India has surpassed the US to become the world’s second-largest smartphone market.
