Xiaomi Pledges To Donate USD 100,000 For Flood-Affected People Of Pakistan

The Chinese tech giant Xiaomi, one of the biggest mobile suppliers in Pakistan, has announced that the foundation will donate $100k to aid the flood-affected victims in Pakistan. Xiaomi will give this amount to UNHCR, the United Nations subsidiary that has been appointed to help the victims of flood in Pakistan, and they would further use the money to aid the victims.

UNHCR has already done a wonderful job in terms of providing the best services to support the affected areas and has saved many lives in Pakistan during the flood. In Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, UNHCR has already provided refugee villages as well as host communities with more than 71,000 emergency relief items, including tents, plastic tarpaulins, sanitary products, cooking stoves, blankets, solar lamps, and sleeping mats.

The country has had nearly 190% more rain than the previous 30-year average in the quarter through August this year, and a giant total of 390.7 millimeters (15.38 inches). Sindh province, with a population of 50 million, was hardest hit, getting 466% more rain than the 30-year average. Till now, over 30 million people are left homeless, around 1500 people have died, around 1 Million livestock have died and countless houses have been destroyed as a result of the flood according to National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) reports. Numerous organizations on the government and private levels are working hard and people from all over the world especially Pakistanis are donating crazy figures in order to save the affected people from any other damages.
