Xiaomi Mi A3 and A3 Lite to get upgraded Snapdragon chipsets for faster processing

The Chinese phone makers two upcoming phones — Xiaomi Mi A3 and Mi A3 are rumored to feature the upgraded Snapdragon 730 & 675 chipsets as compared to their MIUI-running relative phones, as reported by GSMArena. The Mi A3 handset is said to have the Snapdragon 730 chipset, while the Mi A3 lite is set to get Snapdragon 675.

Comparing the new S730 chipset with the S710 one featured inside the CC9, S730 uses the latest big cores (Cortex-A76 based Kryo 470, up from A75-based Kryo 360) in it. Moreover, the new Adreno 618 offers a 25% boost over the old one. The new chipset is built on Samsung’s 8nm LPP process, which also improves the power efficiency of the device, meanwhile, the S710 chipset is built on a 10nm chip.

On the other hand, the Mi A3 Lite handset will be featuring the Snapdragon 675, which is an upgrade as compared to the S665 on the CC9e. This shows an even bigger upgrade, which is from A73-based Kryo 260 cores to A76-derived Kryo 460 cores. The chipset is still built on the 11nm part but Antutu shows remarkable performance boost from the chip.

The lite smartphone may feature another upgrade, which is the changing the screen panel from 720p+ to 1080p+. The Mi A2 Lite device from Xiaomi has a 1080p resolution display, so a successor with 720p resolution display will become difficult for Xiaomi o explain. However, this rumor has not been confirmed yet.

Apart from this, both Xiaomi Mi A3 devices will retain the triple cameras with the 48MP main sensor of the CC9 smartphones. Also, the Xiaomi’s upcoming Android One smartphones will be based on its new sub-brand CC9 series with some modifications.
