Xiaomi has officially revealed the upcoming models from its Redmi series, the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus. Both of the smartphones feature 18:9 displays with minimal bezels and have prices starting at $120.
Xiaomi, the Chinese manufacturer known for bringing out high specification smartphones in competitively lower prices, just unveiled new smartphones in its budget-friendly Redmi 5 series. Announced lot of smartphones include a standard 5.7 inches Redmi 5 model along with an upsized Redmi 5 Plus smartphone with 6 inches display.
The 5.7-inches Xiaomi Redmi 5 model will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chipset and there is a range of RAM and internal storage options to choose from. This smartphone will either be shipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage or with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The 2GB model will have a price tag of $120 and the 4GB model will retail for $135. The smartphone will come with 3300mAh battery.
The 5.99-inches Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus smartphones will be powered by Snapdragon 625 processor. The Redmi 5 Plus will also be shipped in two RAM and internal storage options. The users can either choose to go with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage for $150 or with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage for $195.

Both of the smartphones target the low price category and feature the 18:9 displays with rounded corners and thin bezels on the top as well as below in a design that we have more recently started to see with flagships and some of the upper midranger devices.
The smartphones will not carry a dual lens setup but instead will be shipped with a single 12MP 1.25-micron pixels sensor. Both of the smartphones will feature Aluminium body with a fingerprint sensor at the back. The smartphones will be made available in pink, blue, gold, and black color options, starting next week.
