Wikipedia has announced the “Top edited English Wikipedia articles 2016” in an ongoing research. Panama papers, Pakistan Super League and Pakistan International Airline Flight 661 also made it to the list.
For many years now, “Death” has topped the list. This year also “Deaths in 2016” has been the top most edited article with about 18230 edits made until now. We lost many celebrities this year.
Second on the list is the newly elected President of the United States “Donald Trump” with 8933 edits. Presidential elections were the hottest topic of 2016 and so Donald Trump, List of Hillary Clinton presidential campaign endorsements, Presidential elections and Republican Party Presidential primaries grabbed 4 out of top 5 positions in the list.
Orlando nightclub shooting was the sixth most edited article with about 5540 amendments. Panama papers was another hot topic of 2016. There were 4659 edits in the article. The names of Pakistan’s Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s children were also included in the Panama leaks.
In the monthly breakdown, Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2016 was the fourth most edited articles of February with 1101 changes.
Pakistan Airlines (PIA) Flight 661 incident, made it to number 9th position in the month of December with 538 edits.
Wikipedia is a free online encyclopedia which lets people write and edit the articles. It consists of millions of articles in hundreds of languages. The article on Geroge W. Bush has been the most edited article till date with about 21, 507 edits.
