Tiktok is the word of the town these days and one wonders how long it will survive in the market. There are already requests and considerations to ban the app in Pakistan and let me tell you, we wouldn’t be the only ones. Every now and then, there comes an app which drives frenzy within the world. Take Pokemon Go which forced people out of their homes and run miles in search of Pokemons. The list doesn’t end here but those apps have some basic set of features which help them survive in the market. Here in this article, we will explore why people are hating TikTok and why it may soon be banned in Pakistan:
While TikTok claims that their app is off limits for children under 13 years old, but this restriction isn’t being enforced well. An investigation by South China Morning Post found that children as young as 9 years old are posting videos on the app. Furthermore, it is obvious the app developers can’t prevent the users from making any type of video they want. Hence the problem of restrictions and censorship comes into play here.
If you are going to sign up on TikTok and think that you will have even a shred of privacy, you got another thing coming. Suppose you are making a Duet video with a complete stranger, the other person may be recording the video and you will be totally unaware of it. Despite the fact that TikTok has introduced new privacy features, there is simply no way they can enforce them throughout the platform. And the situation is getting worse day by day.
It’s only a matter of time TikTok is hit with copyright claims. The creators of those songs played with the video aren’t going to be pleased that their work is being used if permission hasn’t been taken from them. Even on YouTube, if you want to use a song in your video and the song is copyrighted, you can get into trouble even if you used 1 second of the song without permission of the creator. And believe me, if TikTok starts getting hit with copyright claims, it will soon disappear from the App Store and Play Store, because intellectual property claims and disputes are an extremely shady business.
