According to the Henley Passport Index for the first half of 2025, Pakistan’s passport ranks among the weakest globally, positioned at 103rd alongside Yemen. Holders of a Pakistani passport can access only 33 destinations without obtaining a prior visa.
In contrast, Singapore leads the index, with its citizens enjoying visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 195 destinations.
Japan follows, granting visa-free entry to 193 countries. South Korea, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Finland share the third position, each offering access to 192 destinations without prior visas.
Other countries with strong passports include Austria, Denmark, Ireland, Luxembourg, Norway, Sweden, and the Netherlands, all ranked fourth with access to 191 countries. Belgium, Portugal, New Zealand, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom occupy the fifth spot, with their passports allowing entry to 190 nations.
On the lower end of the spectrum, only a few countries rank below Pakistan. Iraq is positioned at 104th, Syria at 105th, and Afghanistan at 106th, marking them as the countries with the least powerful passports.
In the regional context, India’s passport holds the 85th position, China’s is at 60th, Iran stands at 96th, and Saudi Arabia is ranked 58th in the latest index.
The Henley Passport Index is a global ranking system that assesses the strength of passports based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa. It serves as a standard reference for global citizens and governments to evaluate the mobility conferred by each nation’s passport.
