WhatsApp’s latest Android beta version introduces an exciting feature: reverse image search. This new tool allows users to verify the authenticity of any image they receive, all without leaving the app.
How Reverse Image Search feature work?
- Open the Image: Tap on the image you’ve received in WhatsApp.
- Access the Menu: Click on the three-dot menu in the top right corner.
- Select “Search on Web”: Choose this new option to verify the image.
- Image Upload: WhatsApp will upload the image to Google for a reverse image search.
- Review the Results: Google will display identical or similar images, helping you assess the authenticity of the image you received.
This feature was made for the digital world we live in now, where picture verification is very important for figuring out what’s real and what’s not, especially with the rise of AI tools.
Before, users had to send an image to Google through a separate app and do a reverse image search manually. With WhatsApp’s new tool, you don’t have to do this extra step. You can now double-check pictures much faster and without leaving the chat. Anyone may use it to quickly obtain context, whether they’re dealing with news stories, memes, or photos that could be misleading.
Currently, only Android beta testers can use the reverse image search feature. It is not clear when this function will be added to the stable version of WhatsApp, but beta testers already have access to it, so it shouldn’t be long.
