WhatsApp rolls out a new voice recording feature

WhatsApp has rolled out a new ‘saved voice messages’ feature that automatically saves voice notes in case something suddenly comes up on your phone’s screen like a voice call while recording an audio.

Earlier in such case, voice clips would be discarded by default and users had to record them again. This feature is available on WhatsApp beta 2.18.123 version for Android users registered with Google Play Beta.

Sometimes, unforeseen things like receiving a call or your phone’s battery running low can force you to suddenly exit WhatsApp’s chat window while recording a voice message. Now, there is a good news WhatsApp can have back for you in such cases. Just go back to the chat where you were recording the voice note and you’ll find your voice clip intact. You can listen to what’s been saved before you got interrupted and then either send or delete it.

However, you won’t be able to resume recording a voice message. If you’re not happy with the voice clip that has been saved and chooses to discard it, you will have to record a new message.

Interestingly, the feature also serves as a hack if you just want to listen to your voice clip before sending it.
