WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging application in the world. And recently the company introduced many new features in its latest updates. Facebook-owned WhatsApp continues to internally develop new features. The company has announced its updated privacy policy and terms of service.
The messaging service has introduced a major upgrade in its application which will be biggest since the application was launched. WhatsApp is introducing “Request Account Info” feature and details about how it will work. The best thing the company announced in this latest update that it is not sharing account information with its parent company, Facebook at this time.
With this “Request Account Info” feature of WhatsApp. A user can request and export a report of your WhatsApp account information and settings. Examples of this information include your chats, pictures, videos, profile photo and group names. Seeing the WhatsApp notes that in the coming weeks all users will be able to request to export all of their account information and settings. A new FAQ support page details how the tool will work.
Previously we can see Facebook’s download tool and the new Instagram data download tool offering a link to users within 48 hours. All the data can be easily available for you to download. While WhatsApp’s support page says that account reports will be available approximately 3 days after the date requested. Meaning you have to wait 72 hours before you could download all the chats, pictures, videos, etc.
WhatsApp further shared plans in a blog post that it has done so to comply with the EU’s upcoming GDPR that will go into effect next month.
