Vivo and Samsung join hands to release 5G-enabled phone this week

It’s not something you see every day, but Chinese smartphone giant Vivo and South Korean tech behemoth Samsung are teaming up to launch a 5G-ready smartphone that is bound to make waves in the industry. With a related announcement expected during the Vivo x Samsung 5G AI chip press conference tomorrow, we could be getting our first look at this device very soon.
This partnership may seem odd at first glance, but as far as producing a high-quality smartphone is concerned, it is very sensible indeed. After all, on one hand, Vivo is just about to reveal a brand new 5G-enabled phone, while on the other, Samsung has recently announced the Exynos 980 chipset with integrated 5G. It is very probable that Vivo’s upcoming smartphone will host the Exynos 980 system-on-chip, given that it is supposed to be 5G-ready.
The chipset in question features eight ARM CPU cores, including two Cortex-A77 cores and six Cortex-A55 cores. Since the 5G modem is built into it, the chip has reportedly been cheaper to produce and is also immensely power-efficient. This will give Vivo a much-needed edge in the market, while Samsung will be able to add yet another feather in its 5G chipset hat.
Called the X30, Vivo’s upcoming smartphone is packed with a bevy of features that makes it a very interesting device indeed. Hosting an extravagant 6.5-inch AMOLED display that features a screen refresh rate of 90Hz, the X30 has clearly been developed with a stark focus on user experience. It also consists of an impressive quad-camera setup at the back (64 MP + 8 MP + 13 MP + 2 MP) and a selfie camera worth 32 MP. The battery capacity is an impressive 4500 mAh, while the storage does not disappoint by bringing 128 GB/256 GB to the table.
The Vivo X30 is expected to be launched at tomorrow’s conference in Beijing, and it’s slated to hit stores in December.
