USB Type-C adapters – Why they are a blessing in disguise

USB-C is the next generation of industry standard for USBs that is significantly more efficient and quicker than previous generations. This new standard has a theoretical bandwidth of up to 10 Gbps. Nowadays, most smartphones come with a USB-C port instead of the traditional Micro-USB port for quicker transfer and charging speeds. However, this transition has affected users greatly. The reason behind this is that you require a different Type-C cable for charging your smartphone (or connecting it to your computer system).

The fact is that everyone has a whole bunch of Micro-USB cables available at their vicinity, but very few USB Type-C cables. One particular reason behind this is that USB Type-C cables are not as readily available right now in the markets, and the fact that they are notable expensive as well.

If you are the owner of a high-end smartphone that has launched just recently, you would know the struggle of finding a USB Type-C cable (in case you forget your own at home). So, what is the solution to this peculiar problem? A USB Type-C to Micro-USB adapter. This tiny adapter comes in quite in handy to connect your smartphone via a Micro-USB cable. One such adapter is available here at allmytech.pk by Tronsmart for PKR 1000/-.

However, there are a few things that you need to know about these adapters:

  • Most adapters are USB 2.0 – this means that despite the fact that your USB Type-C smarphone is capable of supporting USB 3.1 speeds, it will be limited to only 480 Mbits/s with the adapter.
  • USB Type-C is reversible (can be connected via either end), but Micro-USB is not! Keep this in mind when plugging the cable into the adapter to ensure you don’t break it.
