University of Management & Technology is introducing the startup culture for the first time in Sialkot via their BizPlan Challenge 2017. The 2-day event will be held in the Sialkot campus of the university between 26th to 27th August.
The competition will have three rounds. In the first round participants will pitch their ideas to the judge, the second round will be the presentation of their Lean Canvas, and the last round will include presentations on the Pitch Deck Model. The judges will include highly reputed industrialists, business gurus, startup mentors, and financial experts from across Pakistan. Top three ideas will be awarded PKR 100,000, PKR 50,000, and PKR 30,000 respectively.
The BizPlan Challenge will also include two workshops to help participants improve their idea, a seminar on ‘Globalization of Sialkot: Prospects & Challenges’, and SialFair, which will include product stalls by local businesses and entrepreneurs.
Sialkot, home of the famed Brazuca, is known throughout the country as the most self-sufficient city. The local business community developed their own Airport, Dry Port, and even launched its own private airline company last year. While the city has been a little behind in terms of the startup and entrepreneurship boom in the country it is expected that events like the BizPlan Challenge and opening of new universities will help contribute positively to the local community.
