Ubuntu is now available to download on the Windows Store. Back in May, along with the announcement of Microsoft Fall Creators Update for Windows 10, Microsoft announced that it will be bringing the Ubuntu on the Windows Store. The day has arrived. Ubuntu is finally available on the Windows Store and downloading and installing it is as easy as downloading an app from a store.
Ubuntu is a Linux-based operating system and most of the users use it for development purposes. Ubuntu will run in a sandbox alongside Windows 10. The version available on the Windows Store is Ubuntu 16.04 LTS which is currently the latest version of Ubuntu available outside the Windows Store as well.
However, to download the Ubuntu from the Windows Store, you’ll have to go to the control panel and select “Turn Windows features on or off”. Now select “Windows Subsystem for Linux,” from the list and reboot your computer. This will allow you to run Ubuntu on your Windows 10.
