Twitter’s CEO Jack Dorsey has talked a lot about the edit button in the past and he is hinting again that the button may roll out soon. Talk about introducing a pretty ordinary feature but Twitter stuck to its roots with 280 characters per tweet, which were a mere 140 characters in the past.
Jack talked about the edit feature at Indian Institute of Technology in New Delhi while interacting with students saying that they have been considering the edit button for quite a while but they can’t just ‘rush it out.’
Twitter is pretty adamant that it doesn’t want you to be able to change your tweet which you may have posted months ago because it is a public record. It’s understandable that users may want to change misspelling or an incorrect URL, for that the Twitter development team may consider adding an option which allows you to edit your last tweet or certain tweets for a short span of time.
Till then tho, all this is speculation since nothing concrete has been said by the Twitter CEO and there is no telling that we will be writing another article a few months later stating that Twitter is planning to launch the edit feature. There have also been rumors in the past that Twitter may tell users who to unfollow in the future but we still haven’t seen that yet too.
