The Twitter’s verified blue tick, which was originally reserved for only high profile users, has now been made available to all users by Twitter.

Twitter described that this step has been taken to help the general public. Twitter said, “Our goal with this update is to help more people find great, high-quality accounts to follow, and for creators and influencers – no matter where they are in the world – to easily connect with a broader audience.

The Twitter users will now be allowed to apply for the verified tick via an online form. An online application procedure will be followed. The process demands that in order to get the verified tick, users must provide:

  1. A verified phone number
  2. A confirmed email address
  3. A bio
  4. A profile photo
  5. A header photo
  6. A birthday (for accounts of persons)
  7. A website

The users will also have to ensure that their tweets are set as public in Tweet privacy settings.

Previously the tick was only made available to the accounts deemed official such as “public figures and organizations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business, and other key interest areas”.
