Twitter decides to kill its app for Apple’s Mac

Twitter finally decides to take down its less-popular app on Apple Mac.

Twitter has pulled the application from the web and from Apple’s App Store on Mac. However, the Support for Twitter for Mac is available for now, but will end in 30 days, reports TechCrunch.

Before being pulled out by Twitter, the app had an average user rating on the Apple App Store i.e. 1.7 out of 5. This describes an accurate approximation of most people’s attitude toward the software, which has never been as robust as third-party clients like Tweetbot or even in-house services like Tweetdeck.

Twitter has been unsuccessful to keep its Mac app up to date with the latest features. It took the company more than seven months to bring Moments, which launched in October of 2015, to its Mac client. Twitter didn’t even make the app itself; the company outsourced development to a third-party digital studio in Seattle called Black Pixel.

Meanwhile, Twitter has also expedited its move to monitor content on its platform, as it recently implemented new rules to prevent hate speech and harassment. Twitter has indicated that its new strict policy includes the restriction on any abusive language in the profile information of an account, alongside the abusive language used in tweets.
