Twitter CEO clarifies his position over Myanmar tweets

A few days ago we reported about backlash faced by Jack Dorsey, CEO Twitter, over his series of tweets about Myanmar. Jack tweeted out his clarification on Tuesday, maintaining that he refrained from commenting about human rights violations in Myanmar due to his little knowledge about the subject.

In another series of tweets sent out on Tuesday, Jack Dorsey said:

“This was a purely personal trip for me focused on only one dimension: meditation practice. That said, I know people are asking about what Twitter is doing around the situation, so I’ll share our current state. I’m aware of the human rights atrocities and suffering in Myanmar. I don’t view visiting, practicing, or talking with the people, as endorsement. I didn’t intend to diminish by not raising the issue, but could have acknowledged that I don’t know enough and need to learn more.”

Dorsey faced backlash over his tweets a few days ago when he labeled his trip to Myanmar as amazing and said the people there are joyful, while completely failing to mention the atrocities being committed by the government against Rohingya people.
