Tumblr app is missing from the Apple App Store due to an issue which the company is currently trying to resolve right now. However, it is unclear whether it was Apple or Tumblr itself that pulled the app. It has been 3 days since the app was taken off and still the issue hasn’t been resolved. Users who reinstalled the app for one reason or another can no longer download the app until the issue is resolved.
There hasn’t been a clear update from Tumblr’s side regarding what issue they are trying to resolve and why was it so critical that they had to remove their app from the App Store. Users report that they had issues searching in the app while Safe Mode was off but this seems a pretty minor bug which shouldn’t require removal from the App Store.
Another speculation is that some inappropriate content might have been uploaded due to which the app is down. Apple’s past track record of banning apps shows that any apps known to spread inappropriate content are instantly removed, such was the case with Telegram. Tumblr has faced similar bans in the past for the exact same problem so it might be that Apple has removed the app until the content is removed.
