Trailer for “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch”, first interactive Netflix film released

What is “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch”, and why should you be excited for it as a technology enthusiast? Because “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” is the first interactive film ever to air on Netflix.

Black Mirror is a popular science fiction TV series produced by Netflix which examines different aspects of our society and how it would change with certain technological advancements. Netflix recently announced a feature-length Black Mirror film, but with an odd twist. The runtime mentioned by Netflix was 5 hours and 12 minutes, making it rather odd for a feature-length film. This led people to believe that this is no ordinary feature film. Its not event being called a film or episode by Netflix, rather it is an event.

How will an interactive film work?

“Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” is a choose your own adventure kind of film. If you have played any Telltale games in the past, you would know exactly how it will work. Audience will be given different choices during the film, with each choice affecting how the story progresses and concludes. According to the listing on Netflix, the story will be “Mind-bending”.

New and exciting form of entertainment

It’s an exciting new genre which has never been explored before. Giving users a choice in how the story progresses will help develop a deeper emotional and mental connection between viewers and the development of story line.

The film, or rather the event, will focus on Fionn Whitehead, a programmer who is adapting a fantasy novel into a computer game. You can watch the trailer for the film below:

You won’t have to wait too long to experience this new foray by Netflix into interactive entertainment for much longer. “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” is premiering worldwide on 28th December and will be available to watch for all Netflix subscribers in Pakistan.
