There are many titles currently in development, but it’s not too early to figure out which games to play.

With how the release lineup of 2019 is looking like so far, it seems 2019 is going to be the year of the sequels. However, there is no shortage of new video game titles.

Here are the top 10 video games we are most excited for in 2019, and why you should be too:

10. Tropico 6

The city building game where the player is ‘El Presidente’ will be back this year.

The game follows the events of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light. It’s set in a bleak world facing the effects of nuclear war 23 years ago.

Metro features mutated monsters and environmental hazards. Players have access to an arsenal of weapons. Gameplay is reminiscent of the Fallout series.

The story will cover one in-game year starting in winter. Based on a novel series, the story is bound to deliver.

8. Resident Evil 2

Genre: Survival horror

Resident Evil made an amazing comeback following its reboot. Resident Evil 2 received a ‘Best of Show’ award at the Game Critics Awards.

Resident Evil 2 has the players control two protagonists who are part of an organization which is dealing with the zombie threat. Its a first person shooter game featuring multiple weapons.

The game is a true remake of 1998 original except for accessibility changes. Camera angles are no longer fixed and graphics are top notch. It remains to be seen if it succeeds at recreating the horror element for which the series is known for.

7. Total War: Three Kingdoms

There are two modes, ‘Romance’ and ‘Classic’. Romance mode is based on the novel, ‘Romance of the three kingdoms’. Here generals have superhuman powers while the classic mode is normal.

6. Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Dante and Nero return along with a new character named ‘V’.
Yes, it’s that game which has an Ultra Limited Edition with a price tag of $8,000. And all it buys you is Dante’s duster coat. Ludicrous prices aside, the game itself seems action-packed and stylish.

The player fights off hordes of demons. And guess what’s most important? Style. The players get style points for how varied their combat was. Additionally, the music changes based on performance in combat.

2. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

Genre: Action-adventure.
Platform(s): Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

A new title from From Software, Sekiro could be defined as the spiritual successor to Dark Souls. The setting is Eastern with a focus on Japanese culture. Players face challenging battles requiring careful study of enemy movements.

However, what sets Sekiro apart is the new parkour mechanics. Additionally, the new grapple hook seems a fun way to traverse the landscape.

1. Anthem

Genre: Action role-playing.
Platform(s): Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Easily the most anticipated game of the year. Bioware seems to have pulled the plugs on the Mass Effect series; after Andromeda, but with their expertise, Anthem sure has a lot to live up to. While at first glance it may be mistaken for a Mass Effect sequel.

In a nutshell, the game lets you be Ironman. With suits dubbed as ‘Javelins’, players explore breathtaking landscapes filled with monsters and loot.

These exosuits come in various type, each with their pros and cons. There is one thing all suits share, the ability to fly.
