TikTok has introduced a new feature called “Share to TikTok,” aimed at bridging the gap between its platform, known for influencing music trends, and popular streaming services like Apple Music and Spotify.
This feature was launched on November 7th, 2024, allowing users to seamlessly share their favorite tracks from streaming apps like Apple Music and Spotify directly to TikTok.
This new integration enables users to transition smoothly between TikTok and their preferred music platforms, enhancing their overall music-sharing experience. The “share to TikTok” feature enables users to directly submit tracks to their TikTok feed or Stories by utilizing TikTok-specific features, such as the green screen or Photo Mode.
Apple Music users can access the Share Sheet to generate options such as sharing music in a message, publishing a video, or uploading a photo.
TikTok’s Global Head of Music Business Development, Ole Obermann stated: “Today’s launch of ‘Share to TikTok’ is the latest example of our ongoing commitment to support music discovery and artist promotion in partnership with music streaming services.”
“Since its launch, ‘Add To Music App’ has already been responsible for hundreds of millions of track saves and billions of streams on our partner music streaming services. ‘Share to TikTok’ takes the user experience full circle, and will be an amazing way of promoting artists and tracks to the TikTok community,” he added.
This strategic move is expected to strengthen TikTok’s relationships with streaming services, which have previously viewed the app as a potential competitor. Now, TikTok has changed its strategy and is now utilizing free traffic, both inbound and outbound, from these sites.
Additionally, TikTok announced a partnership with Meta that simplifies the process of integrating songs shared on Instagram with Spotify.
