This self-driving car can avoid obstacles like professional drivers

Renault, a car manufacturer based in France has developed technology that enables self-driving cars to avoid obstacles in emergency situations with almost same speeds as professional test drivers.

According to an official of Renault Group, the autonomous vehicle control system of these cars has learned these skills by monitoring professional test drivers. This innovation by the company leads to a whole new level of competition where tech giants like Google are already investing to bring self-driving vehicles in commercial use.

Renault has been a major player providing cars and electric vehicles in France and central Europe. The company is pursuing an ambition to develop autonomous cars fulfilling the needs of mankind today.

Shad Laws from Renault Open Innovation Lab says,

“Despite popular belief, our feeling is that humans are actually pretty amazing drivers. In most developed countries, they can do less than one fatality per 100 million miles. That’s really hard to beat. However, meeting and beating that benchmark is essential to ensure safety and realize the dreams of our autonomous cars.”

To avoid obstacles successfully has become an important feature of any autonomous system as most of the companies are working on bringing their own versions of self-driving cars to the market.

Many big players like Tesla, Lamborghini, Uber, Samsung and Google’s Waymo have taken part in the game of developing autonomous vehicle system. However, some of the vehicle makers are also been criticized for making fake claims of developing autonomous cars, while some have not seen much success in their efforts.
