This Samsung LED monitor can charge your phone wirelessly

Monitors have always been for one dimensional usage, but a new innovation from Samsung is looking to change the way you use your monitor. The Samsung SE370 will be a first of its kind since it allows wireless charging for mobile devices while using the display. The display comes in two size variants; a 23.6” and a 27” version. Such a device can truly be a blessing for most power users who want to minimize work space clutter from the nuisance of cables.

The new feature works right out of the box and using wireless charging is as simple as placing your phone on the charging mat, the green LED light will turn on, and voila! Additionally, the monitor comes with the typical “eye-saver mode” to reduce the harmful effects of blue lights on the user’s eyes and helps in reduce eye strain from prolonged usage. This has been improved upon further by making sure the picture quality matches specific environment settings on the users screen.

Here are the key specifications of the monitor.

Our customers increasingly rely on mobile devices to obtain information and interact with others; so by doing away with the clutter on their desks, we are helping them to use their mobile devices in a smarter way,” said Seok-gi Kim, Senior Vice President, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics.

The montior has great potential for recreational and professional use. When you aren’t using the monitor for your professional needs, switching to Game Mode will let you blow off some steam while leaving your phone on wireless charge and enjoy a few games on the desktop or a connected console, courtesy of the HDMI port. On the gaming end, the monitor also supports AMD Freesync; it will sync the screen refresh rate with the frame rate of the AMD Graphics card to minimize input latency, reduce stutter, lag, and video playback.

It is, of course, a given that the wireless charging will only work with Qi standard phones, which is a rare find in most today, but easily present in high-end flagship phones.

Samsung has yet to unveil the price or availability for the monitor, but lets keep our fingers crossed for this wonderful piece of tech being modestly priced.
