Android 9.0 a.k.a Android P doesn’t seem to have a name until now. Google has made sure that it remains a secret. Keeping the tradition of Android OS names, this version will also be named after a sweet.
The upcoming Android P is the new operating system of Android to be unveiled during a keynote at Google I/O 2018. According to recent surveys, Google’s latest Android P is likely to be called, Android Peppermint.
Why, Android Peppermint? To know the answer. we need to revive Android’s history of names. So here is a short and delicious trip down the previous Android version names (versions 1.0 and 1.1 didn’t have release codenames):
The survey was conducted by Android Authority, by putting it on the website, on Twitter, and via YouTube community poll. Almost 46,000 votes were taken and the result of Android P’s name. Android Peppermint was the clear winner.

Although we are talking about Android 9 which is heavily fragmented and sadly only 1% of the Android smartphones have yet received Android Oreo 8.0.For early adopters, right now Android Peppermint is in the development stage and the developer version is available if you want to manually download it. Let’s hope the Android Peppermint name goes official on the Google I/O 2018.
