This is how you can check whether your smartphone is PTA approved or not

PTA has developed a Device Identification Registration & Blocking System (DIRBS) to facilitate customers and help them check whether their mobile devices is PTA approved or not. Last week, PTA has launched DIRBS to block smuggled, stolen and duplicate mobile phones.

The system allows customers to verify IMEI number of the mobile device(s) to ensure that device(s) is Genuine, Legal Import with all applicable duties and taxes paid and compliant to DIRBS regulations and SOP.

Prior to getting a mobile device(s), consumers are advised to verify authenticity in line with PTA regulations using following three mediums:

  • Find out the IMEI of your mobile device by dialing *#06#
  • SMS*: Send IMEI of the mobile device to 8484, where the system will provide the status of the device

  • SMART APP*: DIRBS app is available on Google and Apple play store. You can check the status of IMEI there

Prior to verifying device using DIRBS, please ensure that IMEI appearing on the mobile device screen is seen as printed on the product box.

If your mobile device is verified, You will get an SMS “IMEI is compliant.”
