This Android phone just crushed iPhone X’s benchmark scores

But wait, the phone is not coming until late summer.

Huawei’s upcoming Mate 20 smartphone appears to be a powerhouse for gaming. According to the report from Chinese tech news blog CNMO, in the AnTuTu benchmark scores for the Huawei Mate 20, the phone manages to rack up a score of 356,918, which is completely unprecedented.

Prior to the Huawei Mate 20, the highest AnTuTu scores we had ever seen were the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, they scored more than 200,000 on AnTuTu’s popular test, and we’ve seen their scores climb as high as nearly 230,000. That’s impressive, of course, but it’s nothing compared to the upcoming Huawei Mate 20.

The highest score by an Android phone right now is by the Samsung Galaxy S9+, which came in just north of 260,000. Huawei’s Mate 20 isn’t expected to launch until sometime in the late summer or early fall of 2018.

Huawei the Chinese tech giant earlier this year launched the P20 and P20 Pro flagship phones. The smartphones were powered by the Kirin 970 chipset, which was initially introduced in the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro smartphones announced in 2017.

The previous-generation iPhone models typically beat brand new Android phones in these tests, that’s how far ahead of the competition Apple’s iPhones have always been, until these results of Mate 20. There have been speculations that the upcoming Mate 20 might be powered by the new Kirin 980 chipset.

The Kirin 980 will be the successor of the Kirin 970. It is expected to bring a number of improvements to the table. For one, it is said to feature Cortex A75 cores which will be used for handling AI with a powerful GPU along with it, rather than the A73 and A53 combination seen on the Kirin 970. According to many leaks, the Kirin 980 chipset is said to be more efficient than its predecessor because it’s being built from the 7nm manufacturing process rather than the 10nm manufacturing process.

The rumored Huawei Mate 20 is said to have many features such as Bluetooth 5.0 support and in screen fingerprint scanner.
