The drawings were evaluated on the basis of artistic acumen, creativity, and alignment with the theme announced for the year 2018. Google announced,

“We immediately fell in love with Sarah’s creative interpretation of the D4G theme, her use of dinosaurs to depict the Google logo, and her big ambitions for her future career, especially at such a young age.”

Within a few months, Gomez-Lane’s design will serve as the basis for an interactive experience on the Google homepage.

Here is her winning doodle:

Gomez will be awarded a $30,000 college scholarship amount. She will also receive $50,000 technology package for her school. Moreover, Gomez-Lane will work with the Doodle team to transform her artwork into an interactive Doodle

She had submitted her entry months ago, hoping that one day she would see her doodle on the homepage of Google. On Monday, her dream came true and Google announced her Dino Doodle as the winning doodle of the national competition. This doodle perfectly incorporates the Google logo along with her favorite dinosaurs. Google confirms that her doodle will be displayed on the homepage of Google before this year ends.
