Windows 10 Fall Creators Update is out today. The update is available through Windows Update but it might take a few weeks for the update to reach everyone through Windows Update. However, if you are eager to try new features, you can use Windows Upgrade Assistant to download and install the update now.
Windows 10 Fall Creators Update comes with a lot of new features. We’ve picked a few of the best features to share with you. Here are the features.
The update brings many new features to the Microsoft Edge browser. You can now pin your favorite site to the taskbar to quickly access it when you need it. Site pinning was a part of old versions of Windows but Microsoft pulled it back for some reason and now introducing it again. Edge also brings a new full-screen mode which is a part of Google Chrome for years. PDG and EPUB files are also getting an update. You can now use Microsoft ink on EPUB files as well (We know that’s cool).
You can now import cookies from Chrome and other browsers. It also gives you more control over tabs and introduces a new interface to manage your bookmarks easily.
Files on demand was one of the most loved features of OneDrive in Windows 8.1. Microsoft removed the feature from Windows 10 for some unknown reason and finally bringing back the feature in Fall Creators Update. Files on demand is a feature which keeps preview images of all the files in your OneDrive but only downloads the file when you need it. In this way, you can save a lot of space on your PC. When you try to access a file which is not already downloaded on your PC, OneDrive will start downloading the file and you will see the progress on your taskbar.
People Integration helps you to stay connected with your friends and family easily. You can pin your family members and friends to the taskbar and access the contact details later. You can also use the pinned contact to make calls or text them through Skype. It also allows you to easily share files by just dragging them to pinned contacts.
Microsoft Mixed Reality is Microsoft’s version of virtual reality. The new update comes with the support for Mixed Reality. Microsoft also launched the Mixed reality headsets which you need to buy separately. Setting up a Mixed Reality headset is quite easy. You just need to connect the headset with your PC (Fall Creators Update must be installed) and the setup will start. Most of the modern PCs will be able to run basic apps in Mixed Reality but you’ll need a more powerful PC to run heavy games.
Microsoft is making changes to the Windows design with its new Fluent Design philosophy. Fluent Desing includes some new effects and animations and is a true successor of Microsoft Metro design which was launched with Windows 8. However, the Fluent Design is currently at early stages of development and it will take some time for Microsoft to properly implement it. Microsoft will bring fluent design to all of its apps on iOS and Android as well.
The new GPU tracking feature is one of my most favorite features in Windows 10. Task Manager has finally got an update after a long time. It has now added a GPU activity tracking option where you can see that which app is consuming your GPU memory and which app is using its processing power more. If you have multiple GPUs installed on your system, you’ll see a separate section to monitor your GPU. The feature is especially useful for gamers and video editors.
