Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Punjab is set to unveil the very first technical and vocational training university in Punjab, thanks to a collaboration with the Chinese Tianjin University of Technical Education (TUTE).
According to a TEVTA spokesperson. the agreement to create the University of Technical and Vocational Education (UTVE) was signed by Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, the Chairperson of TEVTA and Liu Xin, the President of TUTE in an event held in Tianjin China. It was during the recent visit by a Pakistani delegation to China in which the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Education Minister Rana Mashood were in attendance.
The agreement spells out that about nine-degree courses are to be taught at the UTVE, which include Information Technology, Automobile, Electronics, Mechanical Mechatronics, Management Science, Advanced Chinese Language, Pedagogical Training and 3D Printing Technology.
TEVTA Chairperson, Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, spoke at the event and said that this was a major step towards realizing the Chief Minister’s dream of establishing the UTVE. Irfan was also keen to note that the establishment of the UTVE provide a major boost in economy and it would help the youth, which made up 60 percent of the population of Pakistan, to attain the skills they needed to gain jobs and become entrepreneurs.
With unemployment being an annual issue that recurs, the provision of learning avenues for the population through agreements such as the creation of the UTVE will contribute towards the reduction of the unemployed population.
