TEVTA has now trained over 62,000 youngsters in Punjab for employment

More than 62,000 unemployed youngsters have been trained under the Punjab Skills Growth Strategy 2016 by the Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA). The individuals have been trained in Industry Demand Driven (IDD) courses that are suitable for employment across Punjab. There were over 50 IDD courses on offer that the youth were trained for.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh, the chairman of TEVTA, reviewed the progress of these IDD courses during a meeting at the TEVTA secretariat. Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Azhar Iqbal Shad, and Amir Aziz were the TEVTA officers that were present at the meeting. Irfan Qaiser said that the youth was being trained in 8 batches of 3 months followed by 4 batches of 6 months of IDD courses during the academic session of 2015-2016.

He further added that these courses were designed with the consultation of the concerned industries. According to Irfan Qaiser, there are 37 courses for the boys, 9 for the girls, and 4 courses for both genders. These courses are offered at over 300 TEVTA Institutes across Punjab. He said that these efforts are being made on the instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif. The aim of this program is provide the unemployed youth with the necessary skills for employment without adding any financial burden on them.

To meet the traveling expenses of the youth in the program, a monthly stipend of PKR 1000/- is being provided along with free books and consumables. The registration fee for the Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE) was also taken care of by TEVTA.
