Test shows iPhone XR has even better battery life than the iPhone XS Max and Pixel 3 XL

Apple’s brand new, cheaper version of the iPhone XR is finally available. The handset has gone on sale weeks after it was launched alongside the more expensive iPhone XS. The XR offers many of the same features but at a reduced price. It includes the same processor and many other technologies but packs them into a cheaper body that allows Apple to sell the phone at a more affordable price.

A recent comparison test shows the iPhone XR has the best battery life of all 2018 iPhones, just as advertised, and that it does even better than Google’s Pixel 3 XL phablet. The iPhone XR was put through the Tom’s Guide Battery Test, which involves continuous web surfing over 4G LTE on 150 nits of screen brightness. After all the battery tests were conducted, the iPhone XR lasted an excellent 11 hours and 26 minutes. That time is comparable to the Galaxy Note 9 and its 4,000 mAh battery (11:26) and ahead of many flagships, we’ve tested this year. By comparison, the $999 iPhone XS endured for 9:41 and the $1,099 iPhone XS Max lasted 10:38. So if you want the longest-lasting new iPhone, the iPhone XR is it.

This result isn’t a big surprise, as Apple rates the iPhone XR for a longer run-time than its pricier cousins. For instance, the iPhone XR is rated for 15 hours of Internet use, compared to 12 and 13 hours for the iPhone XS and XS Max, respectively.
There are Android phones that last longer than the iPhone XR. For instance, the Huawei P20 Pro and its 4,000 mAh battery lasted an epic 14 hours and 13 minutes on the same test. To sum it up, among the recently released iPhones, iPhone XR by far has the best battery performance and the results prove this as the XR wins by a mile. The XR might be lacking some features, such as a dual camera or an OLED screen but it makes it up by a superior battery, on-par processing performance, and much less price, compared to the XS and XS Max.
