Tesla, the famous luxury electric cars maker is going to unveil first of its kind- autonomous electric truck which will be a breakthrough in self-driving vehicles. The semi-truck will work on electric power and will consume less energy.
Tesla’s work in the provision of electric cars using sustainable energy resources is admirable, however, this heavy loader will set a new trend in new. Over the past couple of months, Tesla has been expanding its reach to potentially rich markets, as the company is establishing its manufacturing plant in China.
CEO Tesla, Elon Musk believes that the truck will feature enough power to lift heavy weight. Tesla already claimed that it will unveil a working prototype of a vehicle which will be produced at a potentially large scale within two years.
Although electric motors are ideal for big automobiles, yet Tesla claims will be justified, once the car manufacturer unveils this truck. Being a Class 8 truck, it will have a max weight of 80,000 lbs. It will require 500-600 kW capacity for its battery. A leaked image appeared on Reddit has also revealed the possible design of Tesla’s semi-truck.
According to rumors, the truck will also possess some autonomous features. Tesla’s Autopilot system is also likely to be featured in the truck. Tesla is also collaborating with Nevada for self-driving tech.
The new Tesla truck is expected to cover 200-300 miles depending upon its electric power. If Tesla got successful in hitting this range, then certainly they are handing over a good product for short and medium routes. Elon Musk claims of self-driving have long been criticized by other tech giants, while this innovation will be a trendsetter if Tesla’s upcoming semi-truck is as good as rumored.
