Telenor partners with NTC to enhance 4G penetration in far-off areas

Telenor Pakistan has partnered with National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) of Pakistan to expand the reach of quality 4G in the suburban and remote areas of Pakistan.

An agreement was mutually signed by Telenor Pakistan and the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC). As part of the agreement, Telenor will be providing large-screen internet devices (4G dongles), mobile handsets, and cellular/data services to NTC in areas where NTC currently hasn’t any viable internet infrastructure.

The signing event was attended by DG Technical NTC Mairaj Gul, Director B2B Telenor Pakistan Atifa Asghar who excahged the agreement. CEO Telenor Pakistan Irfan Wahab Khan and many other notable officials from both organizations were also present.

Through the partnership, both Telenor and NTC plan to pursue their mutual goals of digital inclusion in the country. After getting the products from Telenor, NTC will be reselling those customized 4G products & services, including (large screen devices and special data packages) to its clients that are in remote areas. Taking advantage of Telenor’s extensive network and superior quality of services, NTC plans to delive better and more cost-effective products and services to its clients.

Telenor, the Pakistan’s second largest telecom & digital services provider, has over 40 million annual mobile subscribers of which 11 million are active 3G/4G users. Telenor was able to upgrade its network to 4G, last year. NTC, on the other hand, is the official IT and telecom service provider for the Government of Pakistan. The firm has also been provided with an integrated LDI license to provide ICT services to the Armed Forces, Defense Projects, Federal and Provincial Governments of Pakistan.
