Telenor Pakistan is hosting their first ever digital festival. The main idea behind this festival is to celebrate technology and new smart solutions brought forth by the telco in the Pakistani industry. The event is scheduled for 15th May 2016. In alignment with the theme of digitization the event will take place in Lahore but certain segments will be live telecasted via Facebook Live and Youtube platform. People participating in the event will get a glimpse of some of the technologies Telenor has been working on along with talks by some prominent people in the industry.
The Pakistani telecom industry is going through a digital transition. And platforms like these provide innovators and entrepreneurs a chance to showcase their creative solutions, products and services. While sharing his thoughts on Telenor’s efforts towards digitization, Irfan Wahab Khan, Deputy CEO & CMO at Telenor Pakistan said:
“Going forward these efforts will only broaden, strengthen and be geared towards enhancement of internet adoption amongst the wider community – in line with our vision to bring internet for all.”
Telenor has always been in step with the changing trends of technology and entrepreneurship both internationally and locally. Very recently, they launched Telenor Velocity – an accelerator program for Pakistan’s budding startups. A few months ago, Telenor also expressed their interest in Internet of Things (IoT) by launching their smartwatch which can help parents track their child’s movement. They have also been hosting IoT Expos in different cities of the country. Telenor, earlier this year, also released a report named as ‘Realizing Digital Pakistan‘ which is very closely linked with the government’s Vision 2025. The main aim of this is to bring Internet connectivity to all.
