The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) conducted an Independent Quality of Service (QoS) Survey in eighteen (18) locations across the country to evaluate the performance and quality of services offered by Cellular Mobile Operators (CMOs) to their consumers.
Zong topped the QoS study in nearly every category, with Jazz in second place, Ufone in third, and Telenor in fourth.
According to the PTA survey, cellular mobile operators (CMOs) generally met the key performance indicators (KPIs) for voice and latency that were required by their licenses and relevant regulations. However, they underperformed in a few positions as a result of the deteriorating internet and network issues that were observed throughout 2024.
Voice, Mobile Broadband (Throughput, Latency, and Web Browsing), and Short Messaging Service (SMS) were all tested for Quality of Service during the study.
During the 63-day survey drive, each CMO covered the maximum area of surveyed cities by traveling around 2,400 kilometers. A total of 41,700 calls and SMS tests and 0.29 million mobile broadband tests were carried out during the survey.
Data samples of 4G/LTE signal strengths were recorded along survey routes while the technology auto-detect mode was running during the data test. There was a 90% confidence level of signal strength compliance across all cities.
