Taxation and Excise department launch automated registration card in Punjab to replace paper books

Punjab Taxation and Excise department have launched a new smart card to replace the traditional paper books currently in use for vehicle registration. The smart card will include all the necessary vehicle and citizen data, removing the need to carry a paper book with you at all times.

This smart card is the result of a cooperative effort between the Excise department and Punjab Safe City Authority.

The smart card would be available for a fee of 530 Rupees to all the registered vehicles. It will be the size of a normal NADRA identity card. It will not be mandatory to replace the existing vehicle books with this new smart card, this is an optional facility which can be availed on user’s discretion.

The card will feature vehicle owner’s name, CNIC, vehicle registration number, model, color, capacity, and other miscellaneous information, making the need to carry a separate registration book obsolete.
