Takhleeq, the premier startup incubation center of the prestigious University of Central Punjab (UCP) has officially launched its operations. The incubation center was formally inaugurated by Pro-Rector of UCP, Dr. Muhammad Zafarullah.
UCP has been fostering the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation. The state-of-the-art academic facilities offered at the campus are focused to impart a combination of art and technology education that hones competent talent for the local industry. Over the years, UCP has been encouraging and supporting students to pursue entrepreneurial endeavors.
While the nascent entrepreneurial ecosystem continues to evolve in Pakistan, various business incubators are emerging as critical hubs for aspiring entrepreneurs to seek mentorship and access to an industry network. Be it public or private, now all major cities of Pakistan have an incubator space available to support local entrepreneurs.
Living up to the spirit of its name, Takhleeq is essentially a combination of a state of the art makerspace and a workspace. The incubation center is focused towards supporting problem solvers who are solving local challenges with local solutions, the training process comprises of an in-house curriculum that is aligned with mentor engagements, one-on-one coaching from industry experts and seasoned entrepreneurs and access to an angel investment network. Takhleeq also provides a cafe and a gaming room to build a fun working environment for budding entrepreneurs.
In the near future, Takhleeq also plans to launch an accelerator and an in-house investment fund for local startups. With its presence at UCP, the incubation center will not just be a workspace but it will play a significant role to drive the conversation about the role of academia in fostering the culture of entrepreneurship and innovation amongst a student base.
