Superior University students win Global Student Entrepreneur Award Pakistan

Eye Automate, a startup by Superior University students, has won Global Student Entrepreneur Award Pakistan (GSEA Pakistan) and will now represent Pakistan in GSEA global finals being held in Canada later this year.

The Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) is a premier global competition for students who own and operate a business while attending college or university. Nominees compete against their peers from around the world in a series of local and/or national competitions in hopes to qualify for GSEA Finals. Founded in 1998 by Saint Louis University, GSEA is now an Entrepreneurs’ Organization program. Winners from GSEA Pakistan will compete winners from all around the world in GSEA Global Finals being held in Toronto, Canada in April this year.

More than 100 startup ideas from 30 different universities across Pakistan were pitched during GSEA Pakistan. Judges heard pitches from all the participants and, after a great deliberation, handed the prize to Eye Automate.

What is Eye Automate?

Eye Automate is a project by three Superior University students; Shehzad Younus, Hamza Sheikh, and Hesham Baig. Eye Automate is a solution for people suffering from ALS or any other physical disability which renders them unable to carry out day to day tasks in an effective manner. It uses eye tracking to navigate a menu on the screen to help the handicapped in controlling things like their wheelchair.

Eye Automate has received accolades on other local platforms too as the project was also the winner of ERUPT Lahore back in 2016. Talking to TechJuice, Shehzad Younus, developer and co-founder of Eye Automate, said:

Apart from the support by co-founder and CMO Eye Automate Hamza Javaid and my family, I have been lucky to find great mentors like Mr. Shoaib Zahid Malik from Kausar Group, Mr. S.M. Imran from Deen Textiles and Mr Khuram from EO GSEA Pakistan. They helped me a lot in grooming myself as an entrepreneur and I owe a great deal of my success to them. But the credit of my success goes to Superior University. The environment provided at University allowed us to follow our passion and run wild with our imagination. Superior University was also instrumental in connecting us with the industrial mentors to provide finishing touches to our idea.

Shehzad, along with his teammates, will now represent Pakistan during GSEA Global Final which will be held in April of this year in Toronto, Canada.
