Twitter in a bid to promote its online streaming platform, Periscope service, has announced that now super streamers can earn and collect money from their fans. According to the company, it is committed to attracting more people to its Periscope service, allowing the company to compete with other tech giants like YouTube.
The service Periscope was launched two years back and according to the company, the service is doing great. The steamers who earns $175 in the form of super hearts will be designated as super streamers and will be allowed to withdraw their money.
“The spirit and the goal are for all broadcasters to be able to do this,” said Sara Haider, Periscope’s director of engineering.
Performers and streamers can collect money from their fans in the form of virtual currency, the people who are watching the performances can send donations and money with a super heart shape icon which the company is offering on its platform.
Sara Haider, Periscope’s director of engineering said, “We created Super Hearts for qualified broadcasters to monetize their content, and our objective is to learn from and iterate on this program to help them realize the most earning potential. After standard fees from in-app purchases and payment processing, broadcasters will receive around 70% of the remaining value.”
Additionally, Twitter is doing great in terms of revenue, the company has issued its business report and figures are showing an increased revenue. Company’s quarter’s revenue stood at $548 M.
Furthermore, Twitter just like Facebook and YouTube is committed to curbing malicious content from its platform.
