Startups can now apply for tenancy in Pakistan’s first National Science and Technology Park (NSTP)

Pakistan’s first Science & Technology Park – the National Science and Technology Park (NSTP), situated at NUST Islamabad, is now accepting applications from startups, SMEs and businesses for tenancy. Located in central Islamabad in the lush green campus of NUST, the NSTP will serve as a technology powerhouse for companies, big and small, from all over Pakistan and beyond.

In the first phase, NSTP is inviting tenants from 8 key sectors, namely AgriTech, AutoTech, EdTech, EnergyTech, FinTech, HealthTech, SmartTech and DefTech.

  • AgriTech will consist of start-ups and companies innovating the agricultural landscape of Pakistan, as it is the backbone of our economy. Technologies being focused on are Smart Irrigation methods, Food Processing & Storage, Precision Agriculture and more. AutoTech will promote R&D on vehicle manufacturing; there will be special emphasis on indigenous manufacturing of electric cars to reduce emissions in the atmosphere and decrease pollution.
  • EdTech sector at NSTP will have companies carrying out research on cognitive learning theories and development of education portals and apps for digital transformation of education. EnergyTech will include research on both conventional and alternate energy sources, including Biomass, Biofuels, Fuel Cells, Solar and Wind Energy, Clean Coal, Energy Efficiency and much more.
  • FinTech theme at NSTP will focus on peer-to-peer payment technologies, mobile banking, Cryptocurrency, Cyber Security, etc. HealthTech will have companies working on very important and futuristic research areas like Surgical Robots, Mobile Health Apps, Remote Health Monitoring, cost-effective medical devices, and more.
  • SmartTech will focus on emerging technology trends like Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Network Security, Artificial Intelligence, Data Management, etc. And last but not the least, DefTech will cater to R&D on defence technologies most needed by the Pakistani and other armed forces; these include radars, cyber warfare, surveillance machinery, etc.

In addition to inter-enterprise collaboration helping companies of all sizes, NSTP will also provide the tenants access to NUST’s diverse and very strong research base, including state-of-the-art research infrastructure, researchers, faculty and students. NUST campuses together have more than 300 laboratories, some of them the only ones of their kind in Pakistani academia, that will be accessible for NSTP tenants to supplement their R&D efforts.

The Park has been built keeping in mind the varying needs of companies of different sizes, with available office spaces ranging from 300 to 4,000 square feet. With an overwhelming response received from local and international tenants, the Park has started to buzz with activity and energy. More than 20 tenants are on board, and many more are expected to join soon.
