Startup Merger: Healthwire, Wopiz join forces to improve state of healthcare in Pakistan

Healthcare startups Wopiz and Healthwire have formed a strategic merger to achieve their common goal of improving the state of healthcare in Pakistan. The startups will now be working as one under Healthwire.

While speaking with TechJuice, Healthwire founder Hamza Iqbal, stated:

“ Wopiz had good on-ground traction and Healthwire has penetrated the market very well therefore, we were ideally placed for a merger. We are also very happy to set a positive precedent in the startup ecosystem of Pakistan by completing the first merger of any two startups that we know off.”

After this re-organization, Shehbaz Bashir and Aamir Mughal, co-founders of Wopiz will be joining the Healthwire executive team as Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer respectively. While Hamza will be leading the team as Chief Marketing Officer.

Healthwire, formed last year by a bunch of students from LUMS, focuses on connecting patients with the best Dentists in Lahore. Wopiz was launched in October 2015 with an aim to help patients find the best-specialized doctors in their area and get appointments instantly.

With this merger, Healthwire will be covering a more wider range of healthcare providers.
