Spotify Outage lasts 3 hours; Affecting Over 40,000 Users in the United States

Spotify, the audio streaming platform, reported a breakdown that impacted more than 40000 users in the United States on Sunday, September 29th.

This period was characterized by the inability to stream new content and problems with playlists and playback. According to Downdetector.com, the problem was solved within about three hours of the incident.

Downdetector, which monitors outages through various sources including user reports, indicated that fewer than 600 users were still experiencing problems in the U.S. by 3 p.m. ET (12:00 a.m. PST).

“Everything’s looking much better now!” Spotify informed its users through the social media platform X, a post.

Spotify did not respond to a request for comment from Reuters on the reason for the outage. Some users said that they can only access songs that have been played lately, playlists don’t work, and some users had playback interruptions.

In the second quarter, the number of users with premium subscriptions on Spotify was 246 million.
